How does the home ownership partnership process work?
Housing Opportunities Made Equal has two major programs: a home building program and a critical home repair program. H.O.M.E. accepts new home build applications during an application window at the direction of our Board of Directors. The application window is currently closed. If you wish to have information on the next opportunity to apply, please contact the office to be placed on the informational email list. The application window for the Critical Home Repair Program is ongoing-- please find more information on this website.
You are welcome to look at our new home build application form (one may be found at this link or in our office) at any time. Instructions for the application can be found at this link application_instructions.pdf.

At the conclusion of a home ownership application period, the Family Services Committee reviews submitted application to evaluate qualification criteria. After a Partner Household is selected, the Household can begin working on their "sweat equity" hours.
Our criteria for homeowner selection is based on the houzehold's need for adequate shelter, the ability to pay a mortgage, and the willingness to partner with Housing Opportunities Made Equal. New home build partner families work at least 250 "sweat equity" hours, including construction of their homes; serving in the H.O.M.E. store and assisting in the office; attend homeowner and budgeting classes.
